Mission Statement
St. Mary Cathedral School’s mission is to nurture students into becoming both saints and scholars. We achieve this by providing a high-quality education within a caring, Christ-centered atmosphere, grounded in the virtues of Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith. School Philosophy
Inspired by Jesus’ words, “I came that you may have life and have it to the fullest,” St. Mary Cathedral Parish and School offers a comprehensive Catholic elementary education. We focus on the holistic development of each child, challenging them to reach their full potential by understanding their faith within the context of our culture and world.
Recognizing parents as their children’s primary educators, our school plays an integral role in supporting families. The collaboration between parents, students, parish, and staff creates a mutually enriching community, fostering the development of individual talents, gifts, and virtues.
Our teachers guide students through a sequentially planned curriculum, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning and motivating them to achieve their best. We strive to cultivate saints and scholars by providing students with the knowledge, experiences, skills, and formation necessary for their affective, academic, moral, spiritual, and social growth. Students will be made aware of the needs of the Church and the world, preparing them to respond to the Holy Spirit’s call to lead, serve, and share life in its fullness. St. Mary Cathedral School Song
Words written by Jeanne Livers and sung to the tune of “You’re a Grand Old Flag” by George M. Cohan.
Oh, St. Mary School!
It’s where learning’s the rule.
It’s where children are taught right from wrong.
Where we’re taught to love our God above.
Where good Christian values belong.
And the teachers here really show that they care
Taking children’s best interest to heart.
The school, the Church, the family.
May this trinity never part.

Overview
With a rich 150-year history, St. Mary Cathedral School is a distinguished Catholic, Diocesan, co-educational elementary school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. We provide an excellent Catholic academic education rooted in Gospel values and the pursuit of virtue.
Since 1868, St. Mary Cathedral School has been dedicated to preparing children academically, emotionally, and spiritually to become saints and scholars. Our state-of-the-art facilities, including a new addition in 2010 featuring modern classrooms, a conference room, and accessible amenities, provide an optimal learning environment. We also offer a full gymnasium, cafeteria, music/band room, computer lab, and a robust collection of over 200 laptops and tablets.
Our certified teachers, accredited by the Missouri Nonpublic Schools Accreditation Association and the National Catholic Educators Association, are committed to fostering an environment that encourages all students to thrive. A cornerstone of our mission is integrating faith and learning. We teach students not only academic content but also how it aligns with the Catholic faith. Students attend Mass twice a week, and we celebrate school-wide Benediction and Adoration monthly. Prayer is an integral part of each school day.
We empower students to discover their strengths through various extracurricular activities, including athletics, student council, scholar bowl, and youth group. Every student belongs to a school family, comprised of students from all grade levels, which meets monthly for activities, fostering leadership skills in older students.
Academic excellence is a priority at St. Mary. Our students consistently perform above national norms and participate in local and national competitions and performances. Our Renaissance Reading/Accelerated Reading program cultivates a love of reading.
Recognizing parents as their children’s primary educators, we partner with them to guide their children on the path to becoming both scholars and saints.
