Mrs. Debra Skaggs has been a teacher at St. Mary Cathedral School since 1999. She teaches seventh grade Religion, Reading, English, History, Vocabulary as well as eighth grade History. She earned a Masters of Education Curriculum from William Woods University. She and her husband Bryan have one daughter named Morgan. She is a cat lover and has had as many as eleven at one time, sadly all but two have passed away. Mrs. Skaggs cannot recall a time in her life when she did not want to be a teacher. She even wrote an essay while in the seventh grade about what she would be doing in the year 2025, and it was about teaching! She loves teaching because she has the opportunity to share God with the next generation and plant the seeds for God to nurture. “It’s beautiful to look back and see God’s hand in my life and how He worked with my choices to get me where He wanted me. I love seeing my students as they make their way in this world, especially when they too recognize God’s grace and presence in their lives.” She describes her career in three words: “Gift from God.” Her favorite travel destination is Castle Rock, Colorado. Her favorite hobbies include reading and playing cards or boardgames. During the summertime, Mrs. Skaggs enjoys sitting on her porch reading or praying the Holy Rosary. Her favorite music genre is Praise and Worship. One of her favorite quotes is, “Do whatever He tells you.”-John 2:5
